Patterns of Organization

A sample template for Describe or Explain pattern

This resource from the Keys to Literacy website describes patterns of organization. Teaching students about patterns of organization is beneficial because it provides two opportunities to increase literacy through improving reading comprehension and writing skills. It contains two links to two useful tools that explain the different patterns of organization and paragraph templates to write about each of the patterns. I think this would be particularly useful in science and social studies in being able to discern patterns in those content texts. Developing writing skills is also important in these two content areas for later in students’ educational career.
